A Killer (and Healthy) Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie
By Jamie Bussin
We’re all trying to live our best healthy lives, right? Whether that means exercising regularly or a mindfulness practice. But it takes more than just aspiration to do so. Like most things that are good for you it takes time and effort. Eating well is another example. You might want to have a nutrient dense, delicious and refreshing smoothie to start your day. But unless you have all the ingredients handy, the time to prep, it’s probably not going to happen. …or is it?
I love to make my own food. But if I’m late for a meeting or have a limited window to work out in the morning, I’m more than happy to cut out the cooking process. But I’m never willing to do so, if it means that the food I’m eating is anything less than nutritious. What to do?
The answer to the problem comes from our friends at Evive Nutrition. I recently interviewed Evive Co-Founder Dominic Dube on Episode #229 of the talk show. He told me about their frozen smoothie cubes, which all pack a nutrient dense punch and can be made without a blender in 3 easy steps, for a quick, delicious and healthy meal.
And the frozen cubes do not compromise on the nutritional value at all. Evive’s cubes are made from organic produce picked at the peak of ripeness – which maximizes the nutritional impact of the ingredients. Even if you’re buying your own organic fruits and vegetables in the supermarket, you can’t be sure when the produce has been picked. Evive flash freezes and reduces the ingredients into a puree – a process which ensures that the nutritional value of the produce is maintained and that preservatives are not necessary.
But for those with a little more time on their hands, a good blender and some simple ingredients – you can make some knock-out portable breakfasts; which would be the envy of your favourite (and probably pricey) juicery.
